
On Wednesday, 6th October 2025, the President of Aiding Women in Business Africa (AWiBA) Network, Monique Kyere-Duodu, paid a courtesy visit to the United Nations Women (UN Women) office in Ghana. She was warmly received by Mrs. Afua Ansre, the Senior Gender Specialist at UN Women.
The purpose of the visit was to formally introduce the AWiBA Network to UN Women and to explore potential areas of collaboration and support in advancing the empowerment of women in business across Africa.
During the meeting, The President of the Network shared the inspiring story behind the establishment of AWiBA, highlighting the network’s achievements and its commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs. She spoke passionately about her vision to alleviate poverty among young women by equipping them with the tools, skills, and opportunities needed to achieve financial independence and stability.
She further elaborated on the diverse range of small-scale businesses within the network and how AWiBA continues to empower and provide them with the necessary resources to grow and expand.
As part of the engagement, The President extended a special invitation to Mrs. Ansre to serve as Special Guest of Honour at the upcoming AWiBA Conference, Exhibition, and Awards, scheduled for 25th October 2025. She noted that the annual conference seeks to create international exposure for women-led products and services while providing participants with resources, training, and inspiration to strengthen every aspect of their personal and professional growth.
The meeting ended on a warm and optimistic note, with both parties expressing enthusiasm for future collaboration in advancing the cause of women in business across Ghana and Africa.
